About
Students will work with Gabriel House staff, volunteers, and families to address health-related needs utilizing a family systems approach. Assistance with existing programming may include supply distribution (for childcare and basic needs), assisting with dental hygiene or other health-focused workshops, and childcare assistance during family programming. Students may also work with volunteers in a ‘train the trainer' capacity providing culturally-relevant trainings on nutrition, parenting, over the counter medication protocols, etc. Students will work with site supervisor to determine additional needs and wants of community/organization related to health, wellness, and recreational/educational activities. Students will develop plan for additional community offerings and/or community engagement project, based on their experiences and community input. Students will plan and implement this project, with approval/assistance from the site supervisor, in the Spring term.
